Holidays in Los Cristianos

The quieter of the two main holiday resorts popular for Tenerife holidays on the South Coast, Los Cristianos is just a 20-minute drive from the south airport (Reina Sofía). As a tranquil holiday town that was once a little fishing village, the relaxed vibe is often the main allure of this picturesque resort: nobody is in a hurry here.

The fishing harbour still remains and fresh fish can be purchased daily from the local fishermen so you can gain a real, authentic taste of Tenerife. Alongside the fishing harbour is the Ferry terminal, which is the main departure port for ferries in the south going to Gomera and Gran Canaria, putting it in the perfect position for travellers looking to explore the neighbouring islands. A little marina also sits alongside the harbour, while the streets leading down to the seafront beaches and promenade are lined with little cafes and restaurants where you can sit and watch the world go by.

Attractions in Los Cristianos

Los Cristianos holidays boast both natural and manmade attractions that draw countless visitors to its coast. The year-round sunny Los Cristianos weather makes it the perfect spot to enjoy learning a new sport in Tenerife or making the most of the retail bargains to be had in the diverse shopping area.

There are two main beaches here, Las Vistas, the largest of the Los Cristianos beaches with golden sands and all the facilities that you need. El Camison is the other and is a golden sand beach in between Los Cristianos and the busier resort of Playa de las Americas.

To experience the most of these natural wonders you can take a pleasure cruise, fishing trip or diving excursions from the picturesque harbour and come home with an abundance of memories. The beaches also offer several water sports activities, including surfing, pedalo paddle boat riding and much more.

Alternatively, the shopping in the local area has been praised by visitors on holiday in Los Cristianos for its variety, which range from boutiques to designer labels.

Los Cristianos nightlife

Despite holidays in Los Cristianos having a quieter reputation, the area still has a vibrant nightlife, where visitors enjoy the numerous bars, restaurants and local entertainment that is put on.

The Longest Coastal Promenade in Europe, measuring over 8 km in length, begins at the far eastern side of Los Cristianos passing along the coastal fronts of Playa de las Americas, Costa Adeje holiday resorts and carrying onto the little fishing village of La Caleta. There is no shortage of places to stop and sample local dishes and have drinks along the way.

There are a few late night bars and clubs here, but Los Cristianos does tend to close down quite early, making it perfect for those who want to get up in the morning and make the most of their day. For more vibrant nightlife you can head to the adjoining resort of Playa de las Americas for the late night/early morning clubs and busy shopping outlets.
