Tenerife’s best viewpoints

Tenerife's best viewpoints

It has recently been reported that a much-loved viewpoint at Los Gigantes on Tenerife is to benefit from a one million Euro makeover. This is to involve improving paths, signage, landscaping and inclusion of benches, for an enhanced viewing experience. The dramatic cliffs at Los Gigantes make for one of Tenerife’s best viewpoints, but here are some other scenic vantage points for you to savour during your holiday.

Top of Mount Teide

As Tenerife’s most famous natural attraction, it goes without saying that Mount Teide is itself one of Tenerife’s best viewpoints. From the summit of this huge peak, your views are outstanding, and on a clear day, you’ll be able to see across to other Canary Islands. The southwest view of Pico Viejo (the old peak) is like glimpsing terrain from another world.

La Orotava

The stunning La Orotava Valley is a feast for the eyes from every angle. In particular, if you want to enjoy far-reaching views of the east coast of Tenerife with Gran Canaria shimmering on the horizon, the viewpoint of Chimague off the TF24 is a must. Nip across to nearby Chipeque, and laid out in front of you is the whole of the west coast, and the island of La Palma.

When it comes to Tenerife’s best viewpoints, Masca deserves a mention. Many people regard the view from the car park overlooking the village as the area’s best view, whilst others favour the approach on the TF46 at Cherfe Mirador, where you can glimpse the white buildings of Masca clinging to the rocks below.

Las Teresitas

For jaw-dropping beach views during your cheap Tenerife holidays, the vantage point of Los Organos is pretty hard to beat. From this spot high up, you can glimpse below the broad sweep of exotic sands of Las Teresitas beach, sitting next to aquamarine waters and the white washed village of San Andres perched in the background.

Anaga Mountains

There are stunning views at every turn when you snake around the Anaga Mountains on the TF12, in the most north easterly part of Tenerife. The viewing point of Pico del Ingles is one of the island’s best-known spots for breath-taking vistas, where Mount Teide, the lush valley of La Laguna and Santa Cruz will jostle for your attention.

El Sauzal

There’s no denying that Mount Teide is a dominant feature in many viewpoints of Tenerife, but where can you go to get the best glimpse of this gigantic peak? Many people argue that you need to go to the island of La Gomera to truly appreciate the vistas of Mount Teide, but there’s not necessarily any need to go that far. For the best perspective of Mount Teide, head to El Sauzal. In particular, the cliffside cafe is the perfect spot at which to drink in the splendid views of this looming peak.
