Most of us go to Tenerife for the sun and beaches, the great restaurants and shopping, lovely scenery and friendly people, but what else can you do while you’re there? It’s actually an island packed with interesting historical and cultural places to visit, as well as having lots of enterprises that exist purely to give families on holiday a good time.
Water buggy fun
Based in Costa Adele, this company hires out small water craft that are a cross between a boat and jets, and are suitable for all the family, even the very small when accompanied by an adult. Suitable life jackets are provided for safety. They’re petrol driven and guided by a joystick, and you can hop on and take a trip wherever you like during your rental period, either just having fun off the coast or exploring further afield along the shore line. The company has other, bigger craft too which are available for hire. Great fun for all the family whatever their ages.
If you want to do something different from the usual sunbathing, swimming and shopping, why not have an afternoon out in the lovely Tenerife countryside, seeing the landscape from horseback. Based a Finca Cabuquero in San Miguel de Abona, Horse Riding Adventures is a British run stables that is able to offer horse riding experiences for anyone, even complete beginners and children as young as four. They cover several different routes so as to cater to everyone’s level of experience, and will ensure your safety and enjoyment at all times. It’s popular activity so booking in advance is advised. Also, please note the stables are closed on Mondays.
Reserva Ambiental de San Blas
A beautiful and natural reserve where visitors can learn about the history of the island as well as enjoy some stunning scenery. Each visit starts with a visit to the multimedia, interactive centre where you’ll learn more about the area, then head out for walk through the reserve. Although there is plenty of walking, it’s not too strenuous for anyone with normal fitness levels and is an interesting way to learn more the area when you’re on holiday in Tenerife. Book in advance if you’re not staying at the hotel so there’s no disappointment when you get there.
Those are just three activities you could choose during your holiday. There are loads more for all age groups and interests so you’ll never be stuck wondering what to do from the moment you get off the plane.
