Four great things to visit on a holiday in Tenerife

Days filled with fun and excitement are the hallmark of any good holiday, and Tenerife has so many attractions and activities that it’s not uncommon for people to return time and time again. One holiday here simply isn’t enough to see it all. Here are just four of the things you should put on your list:

1 – Mount Teide National Park

Okay, so you can see the famous volcano from just about anywhere on the island, but seeing isn’t the same as experiencing. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s visited by countless thousands of holidaymakers every year. Take the cable car to heights above 12,000 feet above sea level for the most spectacular veiws across all the Canary Isands. You’ll also be able to boast that you’ve been up Spain’s highest mountain.

2- Whale and dolphin watching or diving

With trips out onto the water daily from both Los Gigantes and Los Cristianos, there’s no excuse to get seaborne and see some of the 28 different species of whale an dolphin who make their homes in the water surrounding Tenerife. Seeing these creatures in a zoo is one thing, but witnessing them in their natural habitat is far more exciting.

For those who like to get under the surface, the waters teem with marine life. If you love diving, or you’d like to learn, the best places to go are Los Gigantes, Los Cristianos, Las Galletea and Puerto de la Cruz.

3 – Siam Park

Famous among Tenerife’s top attractions, the Thai themed park shouldn’t be missed, whether you like vertigo inducing water slides or not. Why not take a leisurely ride down the Mai Thai river in a dinghy instead. And for those who do like the thrill of heights, the Tower of Power slide features a near vertical drop of 90 feet. It’s an exotic experience for all the family.

4 – Visit Garachico

This town is one of the most popular day-trip destinations for anyone taking a holiday in Tenerife. Way back in 1706 it was engulfed in lava during a volvanic eruption, and today one of the main attractions is swimming in rock pools that have been hewn from the lava.

So there you go. Just four activities to tempt you. We haven’t even touched on great dining, superb beaches and sizzling nightlife. On Tenerife, you can have it all.
