When you start any search for a package holiday Tenerife is always one of the first places show in Google search, rightly so because it is one of the most popular destinations for British holidaymakers and tourists. At first the choice can seem overwhelming. There are so many hotels, so many resorts, and they all seem to offer much the same thing. It’s time to drill down a bit deeper and look at ways to dig out the package holiday of your dreams.
Start with the resort
The resorts to the south of Tenerife are well-known and popular with UK travellers. Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas are bright a lively areas, with Playa de las Americas being particularly well known for its night clubs and party atmosphere. Also in the south is Costa Adeje, another sought after area that has a slightly more upmarket reputation. It can be difficult to separate resorts like Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas because geographically they run into each other. There are plenty more resort which run up the western coast side of the island. Most are great for families, and there are some great package holiday deals.
In the north of the island is Puerto de la Cruz in the Orotava Valley. North Tenerife is known for its lush forests and stunning scenery, and the old town of Puerto de la Cruz doesn’t disappoint in this respect. Its distinct Canadian flavour is reflected in cobbled streets and traditional bars and cafes. But don’t get the impression this is a little backwater not worth bothering with. It’s a very popular resort with its share of boutique shopping and tourist attractions.
Narrow down hotel choices
With so many hotels to choose from, the only way is to make your own short list of things you expect then match them up with what’s available. So if you want in-house entertainment, or fine dining, kids’ clubs or organised activities, put those at the top of the list and rule out any hotels that don’t have the services you need. You’ll probably have to compromise as you get further down your list, but as long as the main items are crossed off you should be happy.
When booking a package holiday Tenerife theme parks or some of other outings, such as visits to Mount Teide for instance, may be included. Always check what extras your package includes to make sure you’re not paying for something you don’t want.
