Top 5 reasons why Tenerife is an Easter hotspot

·         Hikers, golfers and families all have plenty to entertain them

·         Local guachinches give a true taste of Tenerife’s culinary delights

·         Stunning scenery and beaches appeal to travellers of all ages

With an average temperature of 18°C and eight hours of sunshine per day in April, it’s easy to understand the appeal of Tenerife for an Easter break. Holiday Weather also reveals that the island enjoys an average sea temperature of 20°C during April, and beach life is certainly one of the key reasons that people visit the sun-kissed island for their holidays. However, there’s far more to Tenerife at Easter than sunshine and beaches.

“From its stunning scenery to its rich variety of wildlife, Tenerife is an exciting destination for travellers of all demographics. Visitors enjoy everything from hiking holidays to celeb spotting while they are here – the island is really varied in its appeal.”

The Cheap Holidays Tenerife team has highlighted its top five reasons why Tenerife will be a holiday hotspot this Easter – after its beautiful beaches and abundant sunshine, of course!

Cheap Holidays Tenerife’s top five reasons to visit Tenerife

1. Scenery

Tenerife offers a range of incredible vistas, from remote beaches like Masca to the slopes of Mount Teide (Spain’s tallest mountain) to picture-perfect fishing villages like Playa Roque de las Bodegas. The volcanic rock formations at the Parque Nacional Las Canadas del Teide are particularly impressive. The mountainous part of the island is perfect for exploring on foot and will delight hikers, while the more remote beachscapes are best discovered by car or by using the island’s bus service.

2. Food

No trip to Tenerife would be complete without trying out the local guachinches. These informal eateries showcase the best in seasonal Canarian produce, offering visitors a true taste of Tenerife’s culinary delights – and all at prices that won’t break the bank. Papas arrugadas and mojo (incredibly salty boiled potatoes served with red and green dipping sauces), pimientos de Padrón (fried and salted local green peppers) and queso asado (fried or baked smoked goats’ cheese drizzled with the Canarian red and green sauces and sometimes a little palm honey) are guaranteed to delight any foodie’s palate.

3. Celeb spotting

Tenerife is becoming increasingly popular as a location to film TV programmes, films and adverts. According to the Tenerife Film Commission, the island hosted 116 national and international TV, film and photo shoots in 2016. The record-breaking number of shoots (28 more than in 2015) brought the island €6.5 million in revenue. It also meant that eagle-eyed tourists were far more likely to spot their dream celeb sunning him/herself on the beach!

4. Family fun

Tenerife offers a wonderful family environment. Children are held in high regard on the island, meaning that they are welcomed to local restaurants with open arms, even late into the evening. Keeping them entertained while on the island is no problem, with adventure parks and zoos offering a host of activities to amuse youngsters of all ages. Siam Park is a great option for families with children of varying ages, offering gentle rides for little ones and high octane thrills for teenagers, along with a white sandy beach for some relaxation for mum and dad.

5. Golf

The clement weather of Tenerife makes the island a great location for golfers, while the mountain and ocean scenery provides the perfect setting. There are nine golf courses on Tenerife, providing plenty of choice for those looking for an extended break on the fairways. Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf, with their black volcanic sand bunkers, are particularly interesting courses. Abama is also a lovely course, and comes with outstanding spa facilities that are perfect for soaking tired muscles after an intense few hours of golfing in the sunshine.
